Musk vs. Trump: A Bromance's Epic Meltdown and the ‘Bro Over’ Coin
Chris’s new coin, Bro Over, memorializes one of the greatest break-ups in history.
Although Elon Musk, the genius of SpaceX and Tesla, volunteered to help President Trump get government spending under control, he was initially not a fan of Trump.
Musk was a Democrat for most of his adult life, until he realized that the Republicans had he, and his business ventures,‘ best interests in mind. Rather than just continue to accept the flash of news clips, heated headlines, and capricious claims espoused by the Democrat main street media, Musk began to delve into the issues more deeply himself.
Elon’s conclusion? Despite the Democrats’ furious fervor, hysterical hatred, and vicious vitriol associated with Trump’s run-up to the 2024 Presidential election, Musk realized Donald J. Trump was the right man for the job. And not only did Musk realize that Trump was the right man for the job, he also realized that Trump was a one-in-a-million candidate who would bring brains, bravado, and balls to the job.
This realization would begin the closest friendship of two genius giants since the legendary friendship between Andrew Carnegie and J.P. Morgan. Trump and Musk are brilliant masterminds in their own right, and yet their love of America and the American Dream brought them together on many levels. They shared a passionate belief in American exceptionalism at all levels - ideologically, emotionally, and spiritually. Plus, they are just nice guys who really like people.
Friendships of this nature develop easily among men who build their lives around the principles that define Christianity.
Once men prioritize their lives around God, family, and country, they are naturally drawn to other men with similar commitments and motivations. Eventually, teams of these men develop, and then miraculous things begin to happen as the leaders inspire others to pursue their personal bests.
Trump and Musk are perfect examples of this phenomenon. They helped each other accomplish what most men viewed as impossible. They dedicated their time and talents to prove the naysayers wrong. They are men who get things done.
This is not to say that everything always goes smoothly. Dynamic men have dynamic personalities, and dynamic blow-ups are inevitable. Chris’s new coin, Bro Over, illustrates this point.
Trump and Musk clashed over the Big, Beautiful Bill that President Trump wants to see approved by Congress by July 4th, which is America’s 250th anniversary.
Musk was not happy with what he felt were insufficient cuts in expenditures. He felt his work to reduce spending through DOGE was not being reflected in the Big, Beautiful Bill. He was justifiably annoyed that it appeared the Congress wasn’t taking his slash-and-burn lead.
And, unfortunately, we are no longer living in a time when communications are primarily limited to writing letters. Long-hand letters where fury has time to abate and the exercise of writing the letters often exposes the writer's viewpoint to be faulty.
Today, being able to instantly post a reflexive response due to frustration or fury does not allow for a cool-down period. The ill-advised comments are completely irretrievable once the “send” button is hit. And worse yet, any and all, Impertinent criticisms sent by prominent people are immediately rocketed around the world, almost before the person has had time to take another breath or reflect on the advisability of having posted the tirade.
This is exactly what happened between Musk and Trump. Musk overreacted, posted his objections to President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill on his platform X, writing that it was a “disgusting abomination”, and soon after regretted his comments.
President Trump was rightly annoyed as Musk’s comment undermined Trump’s hard-fought efforts to get the bill passed. Although, as always, Trump was magnanimous and gave Musk the benefit of the doubt, at that point, it was obvious to most people that their relationship was permanently marred by Musk’s rant.
“I regret some of my posts about President Trump last week. They went too far”
The public reaction to the break-up was a mixed bag of regret, annoyance, foreboding, and sadness. It’s never easy to watch seemingly infallible giants trip and fall. But, luckily, great men continue to do great things. And Musk’s apology on X, stating, “I regret some of my posts about President Trump last week. They went too far”, defines what makes great men truly great….when they are wrong, they admit it.
