Exter’s Inverse Pyramid of Liquidity

This illustration visually shows the size of markets and their relative liquidity. The derivatives market is the largest and most illiquid, down to other paper assets and finally real estate. Cash and gold are much smaller markets and are highly liquid as money. Silver has been added to the tip of the Pyramid as it is a smaller and more liquid asset than either gold or cash. There is an estimated 6 times more gold above ground than silver, so silver is at the nexus point of the Pyramid.

John Exter (1910 - 2006) was an American economist, member of the Board of Governors of the United States Federal Reserve System, and founder of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. He is also known for creating Exter’s Pyramid.

Glossary Terms

  • Air-tite

These are the airtight, hard, clear acrylic individual coin cases. They have two pieces that snap together, the cover and the base.

  • BU

These are brilliant, uncirculated coins or rounds. Unlike a proof, they have a matte finish and are only struck once so they lack some of the finer detail of a proof strike. They are approximately 1/2 the price of a proof and may have blemishes. They do not come with an airtight case or a certificate of authenticity. The price is generally just above spot.

  • CENTRAL BANKS

These “institutions” are privately owned and operated. They routinely play both sides against the middle, so that no matter what the outcome of the war, the economic crisis, the business competition, or the current bubble, the bankers win. All central banks are born of the Swiss central bank named the Bank of International Settlements in Basal, Switzerland. The Rothschilds are prominently represented.

  • COA

An abbreviation for “Certificate of Authenticity”. Beautiful, numbered COAs, which are pieces of art themselves, are included with each Silver Shield “proof” round produced.

  • COIN DIE

The steel die contains the negative image that is to be pressed into blank planchets. Two dies are required for each coin or round. One for the front and one for the back of the round. When the negative image is pressed into the blank, the positive image is revealed.

  • Community Currencies

These were instituted by cities as alternatives to the US dollar. Well over 125 US cities have instituted community currencies. Example: Ithaca NY created a coupon currency called Ithaca Hours in 1991. Their value was based on units of time. One coupon equaled $10 which represented the average hourly pay rate Ithaca wanted to support. They were sold to promote local businesses, create new business opportunities, encourage local shopping, increase the minimum wage to $10, and reduce dependence on imports.

  • DEBT AND DEATH PARADIGM

This refers to bankers who entice foolish people, businesses, and governments to take on massive debt, which will eventually implode, destroying everyone and everything involved, EXCEPT the bankers themselves. They, on the other hand, simply and silently walk away unscathed, and wealthier, to seek out their next naïve victim.

  • Derivatives

They are contracts between two or more entities. Their value is based on underlying assets. Smoke and mirrors. They can be traded on a stock exchange or over-the-counter. Derivatives include forwards, swaps, futures, warrants, and options.

  • DIGITAL ILLUSIONS OF WEALTH

This is Chris’ term to describe any type of “wealth” that is basically just numbers on a page, such as stocks, bonds, pension plans, insurance plans, all fiat currencies, and cryptos. Unlike physical silver, which remains a constant, the others can disappear into thin air, with the touch of a button.

  • Exter’s PYRAMID OF LIQUIDITY

The pyramid shows the asset classes based on risk and size, with silver at the tip. It also shows the absurdity, unsustainability, and the irrational illusion of “wealth” based on nothing but paper. [See infographic above for more]

  • FIAT CURRENCY

It is money that is not backed by silver or gold. It is authorized by the issuing government as legal tender.

  • HOLY GLOBAL DEBT JUBILEE

This will be a day of reckoning. All world leaders will finally be forced to admit that the accrued global debt is beyond repayment. They will agree to a controlled crash whereby all debt will be forgiven as they transition to a debt-free currency.

  • MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX

Former US President, Dwight D Eisenhower, warned Americans about the expansion of this US industry because of its propensity for war, even at the expense, and lives, of our own people. Without good men at the helm, it will become a self-absorbed monster pushing us towards war and consuming everyone in its path.

  • Milk Spot

An opaque “cloud” on a coin or round that develops during processing. These imperfect rounds are classified as BU’s.

  • PONZI SCHEME

It is an “investment” scam, which is perpetrated by an unethical individual, or individuals, to defraud the public. The culprit convinces people to invest in a non-existent entity and then uses those investor’s money to give quick, and high, returns on their “investments”, to the initial investors. There are no legitimate fundamentals for the enterprise and usually, everyone loses their money. The most recent, and notorious, Ponzi scheme artist has been Bernie Madoff.

  • Rounds

This term is used within the physical precious-metal industry to describe non-government-issued silver coins. Rounds are not legal tender, but are instead, considered collectibles and are therefore viewed as an investment. Silver Shield only designs and mints “rounds”, but will occasionally use the term “coins” for those novice collectors searching online.
